YOUTH CAMP 3-6 JULY 2007
We find ourselves in a time where society faces arduous challenges,
especially our youth. Our teenagers are plagued with peer pressure ,drugs
,promiscuous behaviour and trying to find their place in society where
their voices will be heard .In recent times, the government has been
desperately trying to get various communities involved with the upliftment
and moral reformation of our slowly decaying society.
In light of this, the MJC WOMENS'S FORUM has decided to host a youth camp
during the JULY school holiday to offer an alternative. The aim of this
youth camp is to provide our youth with the necessary skills they can use in
future such as leadership skills, team building skills, self-awareness,
debating as well as survival skills.
The Camp will take place from the 3-6 July at Felix Unite River Rafting
adventures which is situated in Swellendam on the Breede River. This
idyllic hideaway that is just two hours from Cape Town has become South
Africa's first choice for school camps. The rooms are beautifully designed
and are built using river stone walls with thatched roofs with two single
beds accommodation in each chalet.
The cost of the camp is R1000 per learner and will include:
* all meals
* accommodation
* river rafting
* abseiling
* climbing wall
* foofie slide
* survivor series
* raft building
* hiking
* 1 experienced guide per 10 people
* Self awareness workshop
* Debates and discussions on challenges facing youth
The learners will be accompanied by 4 facilitators from the Women's Forum
who will be conducting some workshops as well. This is an ideal learning
opportunity for our children and should not be missed. Learners who are
interested can contact Mariam Salie 0834081158 or Zohrah Davids 0721325908.
Please note that we are only accommodating 50 Learners (Grades 8-12) and the
camp is unfortunately for girls only. The deadline for those interested
along with the deposit is the 20 June. There will be collecting lists
available for those who are interested.
